Exhibition: Tide Mills of Western Europe

The travelling exhibition “Tide Mills of Western Europe” is now being presented by the Association de Sauvegarde des Moulins de Bretagne until next 5 April at the Auberge de Jeunesse de Pontivy, located in the Morbihan, in the southeast of Brittany.
The Morbihan Gulf is dotted with around 40 islands. It is connected to the sea via a narrow passageway (900 m), the Port-Navalo channel, which is subject to strong currents. On the banks of the Rivers Auray and Bono and scattered around the gulf and its inland rivers are around twenty tide mills which were constructed from the 15th century onwards.
The exhibition "Tide Mills of Western Europe" is aimed at helping to increase public awareness of these heritage buildings common to the European Atlantic Coast and the ways in which their potential has been developed.
